WHO WILL FALL PREY TO JAVA?

In the battle to replace the personal computer with dedicated embedded processors running the Java language, there remains two camps within a corporation. In one camp are the computer operator who use the computer to access data—a person using the computer to make reservations.

However, the other camp—the power users—views the computer as a tool that leverages his skills. He does not view himself as a drone accessing information from a central data base. Rather, he acquires data from a variety of different sources and processes the information to produce unique solutions to problems.

This second group was the one who initially brought PCs into their corporation. Frustrated by the inability to acquire computing time on large mainframes to run their own custom jobs, they acquired their own computers to do their jobs. This group will not willingly accept the Java solution.
